Ancient ring made of Bronze, shield-shaped, decorated with Slavic symbol of pagan deities. The Slavs considered these types of rings not only beautiful decoration, but also as a ring amulet. The ancient Slavic pagan symbol located on the flap of the ring was supposed to provide protection and patronage by the Slavic deity, whose character was the owner of the ring.
In those days, when this old ring was made, it had a vivid golden colour and glittered like a gold ring on the hand of a very rich person or a Boyar. Not everyone could afford to buy signet silver, so even in ancient times there had been a wide spread of bronze rings.
Depending on the region and the time of manufacture, the ring was made of bronze with a certain amount of tin. When the casting ring or the ring bronze possessed a high content of tin, the object was referred to as a „tin bronze ring”, and had a silver color. Since the tin content was minimal, this ring is light gold in color.
After centuries of wet ground, bronze rings usually have lost their original brilliance and were covered with a patina of different shades ranging from light grey to dark green and sometimes even black. This ring is suitable to wear.
