The sanding procedure, performed by internal sandblasting, was performed by means of a bird bone, from which the marrow was removed and sand was introduced. The insertion of the sand into the hollow hole of the grinding tool allowed the „back-and-forth” movement of the spring rope, to imprint a rotational movement inside the bone filled with sand, so that over a short distance, made possible by the spring rope, the sand inside the bone rotated and engaged, piercing the stone and thus obtaining the necessary insertion hole for the axe handle.
