sogar durch die christlichen Prinzen angefeuert wurde, den Waffenstillstand zu brechen, welchen er mit den Gesandten des türkischen Sultans Amurates[1] 1444 für zehn Jahre abgeschlossen hat, und sie haben versprochen, dass die Türken in der Wiederherstellung langsamer als gebührend sein werden, und Kardinal Julianus hat das Sakrament des Glaubens durchgeführt. Ungarn hat sich in diesem Jahr[2] für den Krieg gegen die Türken entschieden, was auch immer Hunyadi[3] dagegen vorgeschlagen hat. a fost incitat de însăși prinții creștini să rupă armistițiul pe care îl încheiase cu trimișii sultanului turc Amurates[1] în 1444 pentru zece ani, și care afirmau cu certitudine că Turcii se vor recupera mult mai încet decât în mod obișnuit, iar cardinalul Iulian a săvârșit Sacramentul Credinței.

Învață să trăiești în moralitate și cu frică lui Dumnezeu, ca Dumnezeu să-ți dea viață lungă și un scurt răstimp de bucurie, de plăceri zilnice.

Trebuie să renunți la lucruri rele, dacă vrei să rămâi pe aici, căci vor urma durerea și emoții și tristețea, iar tot ce ți-a fost drag vreodată, va deveni neplăcut.

bodren od hrišćanskih knezova da prekine primirje, koje je on na deset godina zaključio sa izaslanicima turskog sultana Murata[1] 1444, i oni su obećali da će se Turci oporavljati i doći u isto stanje kao pre, sporije nego što bi trebalo, a kardinal Julijan je obavio sakramentu[2]. Mađarska se u ovoj godini[3] odlučila za rat protiv Turaka, iako je Hunjadi[4] imao druge predloge. Nakon što su se pojavili neki znaci, koji su se svideli ovom kralju, poslate su male, ali izabrane trupe za Trakiju.

Čim je Murat obavešten o ovoj bliskoj, a isto tako velikoj opasnosti, brzo je poveo trupe za Evropu, svu njegovu imovinu smestio u Aziju, i u roku od nekoliko dana stigao je do Varne. Dakle, tamo su stajale obe vojske sa velikom hrabrošću, tamo su im se obratila ova dvojica vojskovođa. Sultan je bio poprilično ogorčen i zatim je pokazao dokument o međusobnom zajedništvu, uzdajući se u to da će se oni na ovaj podsticaj hrabro boriti, i nadajući se jednoj sigurnoj pobedi, jer je on hteo da traži od Boga da kazni neverne. Druga strana se ohrabrivala time da je spas otadžbine, sudbina roditelja, žena i dece sada u njihovim rukama, i budila nadu, što je turski neprijatelj jači, to se postiže veća slava, i obećala je da će mađarske molitve i sada biti uslišene, kao što su i ranije.

Kada su se obe vojske ispunile sa uznetom dušom i ohrabrujućim rečima, predstojeći događaji su teško mogli da se zaustave, što je i bilo očekivano,

daje se signal i dve vojske tuku se neprijateljskim oružjem, nastaje jedan … od oružja, vide se iskričave sablje, obe vojske se bore velikom snagom, dugo sa promenljivom srećom, ponekad je naš prodor uspešniji, ponekad se oni bore hrabrije.
